Description
HCQS is Ipca's branded hydroxychloroquine 200mg tablets — used in dermatology for discoid lupus erythematosus, lichen planus, polymorphous light eruption, and several other inflammatory skin conditions. It modulates toll-like receptor signalling and reduces UV-induced inflammation.

- Granuloma annulare
Dosage
200–400mg daily (≤5 mg/kg/day to reduce retinal toxicity risk). May take 6–8 weeks for clinical effect.

Side Effects
- Retinal toxicity (with long-term use — annual eye exam required)
- GI upset
- Skin pigmentation
- Cardiomyopathy (rare, long-term)
- QTc prolongation
Warnings
- Annual ophthalmological exam required (retinal toxicity)
- Do not exceed 5 mg/kg/day
- Baseline ECG recommended
- Avoid in G6PD deficiency
- Monitor blood counts periodically
